Doors Open Day Festival

  • The were large numbers of visitors to Holmwood, Moray Place and the Double Villa as part of the 2005 Doors Open Festival (Moray Place and the Double Villa were fully booked within 24 hours of being advertised). Unfortunately, Glasgow Council decided at the last moment not to open St Vincent Street Church.

Re-starting Thursday ATS monthly Talks

The Society’s monthly Thursday talks re-commence on 23rd October at the Glasgow City Heritage Trust in Bell Street at 6.30pm, with Dominic d’Angelo on ‘Walmer Crescent’.

Tickets are free for this talk but must be booked via our website

These talks are in addition to the Glasgow850 talks at the Mitchell Library.

Glasgow850: Mitchell Library Talks

Our series of weekly talks at the Mitchell Library continues.
Current planned talks on Saturdays at 1pm in the Mitchell Library organised by the Society are as follows:

  • 18th October: Dominic d’Angelo on 'The Complicated David Dale: Cotton merchant and abolitionist’

  • 25th October: Craig Bryce from the Trades House of Glasgow on 'Genealogy material on the Trades House website’

  • 1 November: Lorraine Murray on 'Walking in the footsteps of the Glasgow Witches’

  • 8 November: David Cook / Ingrid Shearer from Glasgow Building Preservation Trust

  • 15 November: Lorraine Murray on 'The Ghosts of the Glasgow Necropolis'
