Murray Grigor’s Mackintosh first complemented Andrew McLaren Young’s 1968 Charles Rennie Mackintosh Centenary exhibition. With Eddie McConnell’s photography, Bill Forsyth’s editing and Frank Spedding’s exuberant score, the film won five international awards. The 50-year-old film has been painstakingly digitally remastered by Allan Russell at NLS Moving Image Archive; with the lost score re-recorded by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Rory Boyle at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. With subtitles to inform the music sections and a revised narration assessing Mackintosh in the history of architecture.
