Thomson Cases

News of two of Thomson's city centre buildings:

Egyptian Halls

Press reports this week state that Glasgow City Council's considering issuing a Compulsory Purchase Order for Egyptian Halls after owner Derek Souter turned down a bid to buy the building from a group led by arts guide The List and real estate company Ediston. According to the BBC, 'Council papers said the proposals included a new food market or restaurant development on lower floors, with a hotel on upper floors. It would retain the existing building and create a "modest extension" to the roof for more floor space'.

Buck’s Head Building

Scaffolding has gone up on the Buck’s Head building in Argyle Street to undertake stone repairs. The Society will be checking with the contractor and Glasgow City Council about restoring the lettering on the building, taken down a few years ago.
