Thomson 150 Talk

  • Edward House 192 Sauchiehall Street Glasgow, Scotland, G2 3ER United Kingdom (map)

An event organised by Glasgow Life:

“Join us and The Alexander "Greek" Thomson society for an introductory talk on Alexander's architectural work and legacy on Thursday 15 January at 6.00pm

Alexander "Greek" Thomson was a Scottish architect and architectural theorist, and pioneer in sustainable building practices. Less well known globally than his peer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Alexander's legacy is rooted in Glasgow and is still admired today.

Alexander and his partners designed more than 150 buildings across Glasgow and the west of Scotland, including Holmwood House, Great Western Terrace, Moray Place, St Vincent Street Church, Grecian Chambers (now the CCA building in Sauchiehall Street) as well as warehouses, offices, hotels, terraces and tenements. Many may have been lost over time, but much remains.

Book your free place for the talk via Glasgow Life’s eventbrite.

Drop ins welcome, but booking advised to help us keep an eye on numbers.

Address:

Edward House, 199 Sauchiehall Street, G2

This talk will accompany Thomson150 - an exhibition from The Alexander Thomson Society marking the 150th anniversary of the death of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson in the Sauchiehall Street Culture and Heritage District Project Space.”
