Glasgow 850 Talk: A Love Letter to Glasgow

  • The Mitchell Library North Street Glasgow, Scotland, G3 7DN United Kingdom (map)

Neil Baxter, historian (and earlier creator of Glasgow's 'City of Love Festival') considers love and Glasgow's links with St Valentine.

In his recently published book about Glasgow's High Street, 'Greyfriars, Blackfriars and Deep-fat Fryers' historian Neil Baxter considers the pre-history of the City, the extraordinary circumstances that brought it into being and the unique qualities of this special place. His perspective is that of an avowedly passionate, but not uncritical Glaswegian.

As the creator, in the early years of the present century of the 'City of Love Festival' around Glasgow's very direct links with St Valentine and the writer or editor of over twenty books, many of them about the City, Neil Baxter is well placed to give this special, St Valentine's day talk about the place so many of us love.
