Glasgow 850 Talk: Glasgow sculpture in the city's 850th anniversary year

  • The Mitchell Library North Street Glasgow, Scotland, G3 7DN United Kingdom (map)

Gary Nisbet, a specialist in the sculpture that adorns Glasgow and its buildings, discusses recent discoveries during Glasgow850.

Gary Nisbet has been documenting and writing about Glasgow's sculpture for over forty years, and has contributed to many publications and sculpture related projects, including the book Public Sculpture of Glasgow by Ray MacKenzie, and his own glasgowsculpture.com website.

He specialises in documenting the lives and work of the architects and sculptors who produced this sculpture, and in identifying their lost and unrecorded works. Here, he discusses some of the discoveries made during 2025 and other sculpture-related events, to mark the close of city's 850th anniversary celebrations.
